Foliage can take a garden through the seasons. One of the most beautiful foliage herbs, originally from Germany, is ‘Berggarten’ sage. At 2 feet tall, it’s perfect for planting at the corners and along walkways. It's dusty-green leaves provide a pleasing background for its own violet-blue blooms in early summer. Sage leaves are sometimes used medicinally as a tea to treat lung and throat maladies. Their leaves complement strong-flavored meats and can be used in stuffing and in potato dishes.
